Apps that don't need WiFi

If you're on our Free Nationwide Talk & Text plan, ran out of data for the month, or simply don't have service at all, then you probably rely on available WiFi a lot. But even though it is 2021, WiFi isn't readily available everywhere, unfortunately, so there may be times where you're simply caught without anything to do on your phone other than stare at saved photos. But that doesn't have to be the case. In fact, many of your favorite apps offer offline capabilities, so you can keep yourself entertained even without internet service (saving your battery life in the process too).

Music

What is a commute without some music or podcasts anyway? Luckily, the Spotify app does allow you to download songs, albums, or episodes directly so that you can listen to them on "offline mode."A free Spotify account will only allow you to download podcasts, but if you have a Premium account (starting at $9.99/month), you can download music as well. TV

The world of content streaming is getting larger and larger by the day, with more services and subscriptions popping up every year. While you can find a free streaming service (Peacock TV), finding one that will allow you to download content for offline use for free is near impossible. So we looked through all the plans, and if you must subscribe to one service, we'd recommend subscribing to Disney+, starting at $6.99/month. With their recent acquisition of Hulu and ESPN, you can gain access to even more titles (may require a bundle subscription), and using the mobile app, you can even download content to your phone directly while online, so it's available to you when you're offline.

Games

Luckily, finding free games that don't need WiFi is a much easier task than streaming content. From simple games like chess to more complex simulators like Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic, there is something for every type of gamer, or simple time passer. Connections

Of course, you can entertain yourself with other content all you want, but sometimes, you just want to be entertained with your own personal content---ie. your own relationships. For that, you need the ability to send a text or make a call. We mentioned this in the introduction, but TextNow's Nationwide Talk & Text plan is built just for that. And it's free! Like many free services, we are ad-supported, so there are no hidden catches or fees involved. By activating your phone with our SIM card ( a one-time $5 fee), you can enjoy nationwide service outside of WiFi, so you can still receive texts, send them, as well as receive calls and make them.So just because you don't have WiFi doesn't mean that you don't get to enjoy using your phone, and it most certainly doesn't mean that you can't keep saving money while you're at it.
