Back To School: Three Money Saving Tips For College

Saying "college is expensive" is a truism on the level of "water is wet" or "the sky is blue." But that doesn't mean there aren't ways to make it less onerous on your wallet.  Here's some tips from your friends here at TextNow for saving money while you're busy learnin'.

1. Get a job

Ok, that sounded harsh. You're probably not going to be able to hold down a full-time job while working towards a degree, but a part-time gig will help a lot with covering expenses, even if it's just a side hustle that you run around your own hours. And TextNow (not surprisingly) can help with that. Our customers regularly use TextNow as a second number specifically to separate their side hustles from their personal lives.

2. Pare down the stuff you don't need.

Not in the Marie Kondo of "does this object bring me joy?" sense, although that's not a bad idea either. No, I mean pare down ALL the stuff you don't need. For example let's say your cell phone bill is $100 a month. You could knock that down to a whopping zero dollars a month using a Textnow SIM with our Nationwide Talk & Text --- free texting and free calling. Ask a math professor if $0 is smaller than $100. Spoiler: it is!

3. Shop for deals.

Your mother wasn't wrong to clip coupons, you know. Every little bit helps, right? Big bits can help too. The average cost of a new cell phone is just north of $500 these days. I bet I could find a pretty good used car for five hundred smackers. By comparison you can buy a phone from us (you knew that was coming, right?) for a fraction of that.
