5 Ways To Spring Break At Home

Ah, spring break. That fabled week when students get a week to get caught up on school work and get their taxes done, and meditate on their life choices.  Oh, no, wait that's not spring break at all. No, spring break --- as MTV has helpfully taught us, is a bacchanalian revel of young people celebrating spring by cramming themselves onto a beach with enough alcohol to fuel an oil tanker.

Or rather it should be, but, like the rest of life, such things have had a Covid wrench thrown into it. And as the pandemic is still raging across the world, this year students will definitely want to look into ways of breaking safely for spring. Luckily, your friends here at TextNow have some ideas to make the most of your break. After all, a week off is a week off, right?

1. Go on a road trip.

If you have a couple of buds that you've been socially-bubbling with, roll down those car windows and load the trunk with hand-sanitizer and hit the road! Throw a pin on a map and see what's there. Or just go for a nice drive and crank the tunes.

2. Sleep.

You think I'm kidding, but college can be hell on your health, between the all-nighters and the non-stop caffeine intake, I bet your sleep schedule is messed up ten ways to Sunday.  So take the week to reset, and get on a regular solid eight hours of sleep a night. I guarantee you'll feel better, and your school work will improve. (Note: not an actual guarantee.)

3. Have a movie/TV marathon.

Even when I was in university, back in the Paleozoic era, I was mostly an indoor kid. So to me (and my other fellow nerds), a week off meant we could blow a truly incredible amount of time marathoning movies until our eyeballs fell out. A week is more than enough time to rewatch all of the Lord Of The Rings movies (extended versions, natch), or the entire Nightmare On Elm Street series including Freddy vs. Jason, or about 1/3rd of all the James Bond movies.  Or if movies ain't your thing, fire up a Netflix watch party and mainline The Good Place with your soulmates. The options are endless!

4. Redecorate your house.

If you're getting squirrely after living in the same room for a year, changing your living space is a fabulous mental-health trick. I bet that chair would look great in the opposite corner! Do those baseboards need a paint touch-up? Sick of that wallpaper? A week to set up your place the way you've always wanted to but never had the time for is perfect.

5. Study.

Just kidding.
