It’s been two years since we celebrated ten years as a company, and only one since we launched our Free Nationwide Talk & Text service—the first ad-supported free cellular service. We’ll be honest, we never expected that year to look quite like it did.
But our mission—to keep people connected, for free, or as close to free as possible—steadfastly spurred us on, with our new service making it possible for us to help as many people as we could during our initial COVID-19 response. We’ve had single parents, furloughed or laid-off workers, couples who needed to stay in touch with each other in different cities, countries even, and many more reach out to us for help with a free phone service that could keep them connected.
We’re proud of the crucial service we’ve been able to provide during the past year, but we’re also proud of the doors we’ve opened up for others. During the pandemic, many suddenly found themselves having to pivot and either turn their passion into a small business, or start a side hustle for some extra money on the side. Stories like Deijane Bank’s virtual tutoring service, or Chrystalle Reece’s virtual personal training business started reaching us, and we realized that having a phone number isn’t just useful for all your primary contact needs, it’s also a luxury for most starting small businesses, and we were happy to provide it for free.
It’s been a wild year, no one can deny that. But we’re determined to make our 13th year our best yet. And we’re happy to have you along for the ride.
