Our Response to COVID-19

Update, December 24 at 9:48am EDT: Unfortunately, due to an overwhelming response we have exhausted our supply of free phones and service for distribution in both Canada and the U.S. Free service is still available for those with a WiFi connection via our app.

Like most of the world, we’ve been watching the COVID-19 public health crisis spread along with the unimaginable economic disruption it’s caused.

In these extraordinary times, staying connected is more important than ever. We’re proud that our free calling and texting services make that possible for people from all walks of life. We also know that many more people will need to make difficult financial decisions in the coming days, weeks, and months. We want you to know that if you can no longer afford your phone service, we’re here to help.

How We Are Helping

For those of you in the U.S. and Canada — if you’ve lost your job and can no longer afford your phone bill, reach out to us on Twitter or Facebook, or email us at [email protected]. We are giving away as much as we can, from free phones and service, to SIM cards and premium upgrades, to help you stay connected during these uncertain times.

Free Phones

If you need a device, we’ll do our best to get you one — complete with a SIM card and preloaded with our unlimited free calling and texting plan — including, for the first time ever, for users in Canada. We’re clearing out our existing inventory of devices to help as many people as we can stay connected.

Free Service

If you already have a compatible Android or iOS device, we’re sending out as many free SIM cards as we can to get people connected to our Free Nationwide Talk & Text plan. Unlimited calling and texting to the U.S. and Canada at no charge, on the Nationwide Sprint® Network*. If you want to port in your existing number, we can help.

Free Phone Number

The spread of coronavirus has changed the way we live and work. If you’re connected to WiFi all day and want to reduce your phone bill, or you find yourself in need of a second phone number to work from home, our calling and texting app is available in the App Store and Google Play for free. Get a free 10-digit phone number, and immediately have access to unlimited calling and texting to stay connected to the important people in your life.

Community Support

As a part of this Canadian initiative, we’re sending devices preloaded with our free cellular service to House of Friendship in Kitchener-Waterloo. As a proudly Canadian company, we want to make sure the most vulnerable in our community are able to stay connected, even if they can’t afford a traditional phone plan.

Keeping You Informed

We’ve brought back our Helping Hands series to keep you informed about our response to COVID-19 and to provide users with tips and information for navigating these uncertain times. You can see the updates right here on our blog, or by signing up for our newsletter.

Our mission has always been to provide excellent phone service for free, or as close to free as possible. Now more than ever we want to make sure that everyone has access to communication. If you can no longer afford your phone service, reach out to us. We can’t promise devices to everyone, but we want to help as many people as possible stay safe and stay connected through these turbulent times.
